Class provides a foundation of knowledge and tools to effectively market and acquire customers for a host of green and sustainable businesses and industries, including solar, energy efficiency, green building, corporate sustainability measures, and other sustainable products and services. The class represents state-of-the art best practices in marketing, branding, lead generation, and customer management to drive new green and sustainable business.
Topics include: (1) branding strategy, (2) customer relationship management, (3) marketing techniques and tools, and (4) best practices for green and sustainable business development.
Course Description
This 5-week class provides a foundation of knowledge and tools to effectively (1)create a personal brand in order to make yourself more marketable to employers; (2)give you an introduction to marketing best practices in a clean energy economy; (3)use marketing to expand your green entrepreneurial activities. Topics include branding strategy, customer relationship management, marketing techniques and tools, and best practices for business development. For each exercise, students will apply marketing techniques to real-world businesses in order to gain practical experience and learn how strong marketing practices can generate awareness and engagement for yourself and your company. As well, students will practice presentation skills and gain a greater sense of their personal brand.

- Comprehend and apply effective marketing techniques to clean energy economy businesses.
- Develop a personal brand that drives demand for services.
- Develop and implement a marketing strategy and plan.
- Set up a professional website that generates quality leads and enhances your products and services.
- Learn the value of social media and how to generate business through the use of it.
- Present the value and benefits of green: alternative energy sources, energy efficiency, safe and non-toxic products, sustainable services, products and processes.
- Practice presentation skills through weekly “stand and delivers” on selected topics.
